Hand Woven Scarf – Heather 2
$ 95.78
Description This beautiful scarf is, as all my woven pieces are, unique. I have woven it in my Spinnery, on my gorgeous Saori loom. I wove this scarf according to the Saori principle of weaving from the heart. There was no plan, apart from the colours that I wanted to use. In everything else I was guided by my feeling in the moment. The warp is black cotton which allows the lovely heathery green and purple of the weft yarns to take centre stage. I have used several yarns for the weft, some of which I have hand spun and some of which are rather special commercial yarns. The commercial yarns are John Arbon’s Alpaca Supreme which is 40% Superfine Alpaca, 40% organically farmed Falklands merino and 20% A1 Mulberry silk. It is luscious and luxurious and wonderfully soft to the touch. I have also used some of my own hand dyed and hand spun Bluefaced Leicester yarn and some beautifully textural hand dyed, hand spun, beaded silk noil. The Alpaca and Silk fibres give the scarf a lovely drape. The pops of other yarns and inclusions provide lots of textural interest. As you get to know this scarf, you will keep discovering new favourite parts for a long time. This scarf is unique and will remain so. In the light of it being the only one on the planet, please hand wash it gently in cool water. Squeeze, don’t wring. Roll it up in a towel and squeeze to get as much moisture out as possible and then hang to dry. Don’t even talk about tumble driers in the same room as this piece of wearable art! Properly looked after, this scarf will keep the wearer cosy and feeling very special for decades. Dimensions: 27cm x 160cm (including fringe) When considering the colours in this scarf, please bear in mind that though I have done my best to represent them accurately, monitors can differ.
